Cardiac & Vascular Procedures

At AH&VC, we offer a range of specialized, minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat heart and vascular conditions. These procedures help us address issues like blocked arteries, irregular heart rhythms, and poor blood flow before they lead to more serious complications. By using advanced techniques, we aim to provide effective treatment with minimal downtime, allowing you to return to your normal life as quickly as possible. Most of these procedures are performed in the hospital, with the exception of vascular ablation, which is available in our office.

Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)

A specialized ultrasound that provides detailed images of your heart by passing a small probe down the esophagus. This test is commonly ordered for patients with suspected heart valve issues or conditions that are difficult to see with a standard echo. It helps us diagnose issues like valve disorders or other structural heart problems. This procedure is performed in the hospital.

Cardiac Catheterization

A minimally invasive procedure where a thin tube (catheter) is inserted into the heart through a blood vessel to check for blockages or other heart problems. It’s commonly ordered for patients with suspected coronary artery disease or chest pain that may indicate a blockage. If necessary, this procedure can also include stent placement to open blocked arteries and improve blood flow. This procedure is performed in the hospital.

Vascular Ablation

A minimally invasive procedure to treat varicose veins by sealing off damaged veins. This improves blood flow and reduces discomfort. It’s commonly recommended for patients with varicose veins or chronic venous insufficiency. This procedure is available in our office.

Device Implants

Device implants are used to regulate or monitor heart rhythms, preventing serious complications like heart failure or sudden cardiac arrest. These procedures are all performed in the hospital. Below are breakdown of device types we offer:

Pacemaker

This device is commonly used for patients with bradycardia (slow heart rate) to regulate slow or irregular heartbeats and ensure the heart maintains a steady rhythm.

Biventricular Pacemaker

Also called a Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) device, this pacemaker is used for patients with heart failure to help both sides of the heart beat in sync, improving heart function.

Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)

This device is commonly ordered for patients at risk of sudden cardiac arrest. It monitors the heart and can deliver a shock to restore a normal heartbeat.

Loop Recorder

Also known as an implantable loop recorder (ILR), this small device is implanted under the skin to monitor heart rhythms over time, commonly ordered for patients with unexplained fainting or palpitations.
